A good application starts before the spray. This guide walks through using Fixture Shield Home Ceramic Coating on compatible faucet exteriors and shower trim, with attention to preparation, excess residue and curing time.
1. Confirm compatibility and choose a test area
Read the care instructions for the exact fixture. Finish colors do not tell you everything about the underlying coating system. Test a small, inconspicuous area and inspect its appearance after curing before treating the whole fixture.
2. Clean the exterior and dry it
Use a cleaner approved for that surface to remove soap residue, oils and existing deposits. Remove cleaning residue as directed, then dry the fixture. Check the base and the area around handles where water can remain.
Do not substitute a metal polish or strong deposit remover unless the fixture manufacturer permits it. Coating does not repair scratches or a damaged finish.
3. Apply a fine mist and spread evenly
Follow the application directions on your Fixture Shield bottle. Spread the coating with a clean microfiber towel. Work on the compatible exterior surfaces covered by the product directions.
4. Buff away excess coating
Use a clean, dry part of the towel to remove residue. Check curved surfaces and edges from different angles, looking for streaks or excess product. An even, properly buffed application is the goal.
5. Allow time before the next use
Fixture Shield's current published directions specify 2 hours before use and 24 hours for full cure. Plan the application around a period when the fixture can remain undisturbed, and follow the directions supplied with your bottle.
6. Continue gentle care
Use compatible, gentle cleaners and soft tools. Wipe standing droplets when practical. If water repellency or ease of cleaning declines, consult the product directions before reapplying.
